How secure is Squarespace?
Squarespace is generally considered quite secure for a variety of reasons:
- SSL Security: Squarespace provides an SSL certificate for every site.
- DDoS Protection: To protect sites from a common form of cyber-attack known as a Distributed Denial-of-Service attack, Squarespace does use a security infrastructure, that at a network level, should protect their servers (and your website) from these threats.
- Compliance: Squarespace complies with the PCI-DSS standards, meaning that credit card data is handled in line with high security principles and procedures. Squarespace is also GDPR complaint to secure the data of EU citizens.
This said, for some types of organizations, the security of Squarespace may be inadequate. Squarespace has robust preventive measures in place to deal with potential security issues. Nonetheless, website security also depends on practices by the end-users like using a strong, unique password, keeping your personal computer free from viruses, and being cautious about phishing attempts.
