Why can’t I save changes with my Elementor editor?

It’s frustrating when you can’t get your latest edits saved because something is keeping them from being sent back to the server. The main reasons why you might be facing issues are JavaScript conflicts, Memory Limits, Limited PHP settings for your hosting plan or Plugin/Theme conflicts.

Here are some ways to troubleshoot if you’re having trouble making certain changes:

Check for Elementor updates: Frequently, this issue is a bug, and has probably already been resolved. So, go check for updates, even if it doesn’t solve this problem, it’s always best practice to keep all WordPress plugins updated for security.

Check for plugin conflicts: Sometimes another WordPress plugin might conflict with Elementor and cause issues while saving your designs. Deactivate all of your plugins except Elementor and see if it resolves the issue. If it does, reactivate each plugin one by one until you’ve found the problematic plugin.

Increase Memory Limits: Memory issues can cause problems when trying to save in Elementor. Try increasing PHP memory limit through your php.ini file or contacting your hosting provider for help doing so. This can sometimes resolve other performance issues in Elementor, as well.

Resolve JavaScript Conflicts: Sometimes there might be a JavaScript conflict between different scripts loaded by themes and plugins on your site’s page. To check this, right click anywhere in your WordPress admin panel and click “Inspect”. Navigate to “Console”, refresh the page and see if any error messages pop up.

Compatibility Issues: Make sure that you’re using a version of PHP that’s compatible with the version of Elementor you’re running. As of now; if you’re running 2.x release of ‘elementor’, ‘elementor-pro’ these versions require at least PHP 5.4+ but no greater than 7.x., or 5.x versions of ‘elementor’, ‘elementor-pro’ which require PHP 7+ but don’t work well with PHP 8.x.

Look for Server Misconfigurations: Things like WordPress heartbeat or ModSecurity protocols can interfere with Elementor’s ability to save. Contact your hosting provider about these issues and see if they may be able to assist you.
